Magnetic Rail Posts

So I just printed a rail shelf along with some hold downs, screw posts and nuts, and was finding I kept knocking the minis as I was trying to twist down and untwist the nuts to hold the minis in place. I was wondering if it might be possible to take the idea of the screw post, and edit it such that instead of being a screw, it's either a low clearance flat disc for affixing a magnet disc, or a little socket capable of having a 5x1mm or so neodymium magnet glued in. The hold downs can still be used, and would keep the minis from shaking loose when being transported, but instead of having to unscrew a nut to free minis that are secured, the magnet rails can act as more of a quick release system. This has the added benefit of acting as an additional way to secure minis with non-standard bases, such as 28.5mm bases.

    We've discussed this and don't think it is something we can accommodate with the existing system. We are thinking through some possible other options that would make more complete use of magnets but we have some distance to cover on the design. In the meantime, the rails system works with the pieces we have.
